Thread mill 1/8-27 carbide is a precision cutting tool that utilizes specialized indexable inserts designed to create complex external or internal threads with incredible precision and finish on materials such as stainless steel, high alloy steels, titanium alloys and more. The use of carbide in the construction ensures durability, high wear resistance, hardness for long-lasting service while offering better heat resistance during the thread cutting process. This thread mill comes with 3 to 4 flutes for excellent chip evacuation reducing friction, improving material flow for increased efficiency and performance. The inserts are easy to change making it ideal for large scale manufacturing processes or maintenance workshop for repairing threaded parts on various equipment used in aerospace, automotive, medical industries among others where precise threads are critical.

The TiAlN coating on these helical-flute thread mills withstands high temperatures and protects the thread mills from wear when milling hard materials. The TiAlN coating allows the thread mills to be used at faster speeds than thread mills with a bright finish. These thread mills are made from carbide, which offers excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness.

Helical-flute thread mills have spiral flutes that distribute the chip load as the thread mill removes material to cut threads into an existing hole or onto the external surface of a part. They provide a smoother cut than straight-flute or single-profile thread mills and are used to create threads on tough or thin-walled materials. Helical-flute thread mills can create internal threads of the same pitch in a range of hole diameters, eliminating the need to change tools when threading multiple holes of different sizes. Thread mills are only usable in CNC machines that have helical interpolation capability.
