3M Speedglas welding PAPR (powered air-purifying respirator) systems provide safe, breathable air to workers. The helmet cover and leather shroud protect workers from welding arc, sparks, and splatter. Face shields have colored lenses that filter bright light to protect workers' vision. The colored lens tilts up so workers can see weld lines more clearly when grinding and to allow workers to communicate more easily. PAPRs have a belt-mounted blower unit that passes ambient air through a filter before sending it to the headgear. They allow workers to move freely and unrestricted because the filter and power source are worn on the body. Welding PAPRs are used for a range of applications, including MIG and TIG welding, plasma cutting, and grinding.
