Scotty Hasting

This week’s Veterans Spotlight shines on Scotty Hasting.

Nashville native Scotty Hasting joined the Army in 2010 as an infantryman, beginning his military journey with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.

During his service in Afghanistan, Hasting earned both a Purple Heart and a Combat Infantry Badge. After being injured in combat, he found a new passion in archery through the U.S. Paralympic program, where he excelled.

Following his medical discharge, Hasting turned to music, learning to play the guitar—a skill that helped him cope with feelings of isolation and silence. This creative outlet not only aided his journey through PTSD but also led to a record deal with Black River Entertainment in late 2023. He has since released three singles, including the song “How Do You Choose.”

Today, Hasting dedicates his time to supporting fellow Veterans who face challenges in adjusting to civilian life. He actively volunteers with organizations like CreatiVets and Guitars 4 Vets. Reflecting on his mission, he said, “I want to show people that it may be bad now, but I promise you it’s going to get better.” Hasting views his life’s purpose as inspiring individuals with disabilities and Veterans to find hope and motivation, transforming their lives one step at a time.

Thank you for your service!
