They help prevent overheating and reduce wear of transformers by circulating air around the radiator housing to speed cooling of oil within the radiator. They're typically used at power stations, large factories, and other installations with oil-cooled transformers. Guard-mount fans have loops that connect to a separate guard-mount mounting kit for attaching to a transformer. Tubular-mount fans have a frame that mounts directly to a transformer.
