The decks on these wooden-deck platform trucks are completely open on the ends and sides to allow pipe, bar stock, rolls of carpet or paper, and other long and large items to be loaded onto them. Also known as stake or stanchion trucks, the trucks have vertical posts at the corners that keep items from rolling or sliding off their decks. The posts are used to steer the trucks and can be removed to ease loading and unloading. The trucks have two axle-mounted wheels and two swivel casters mounted in a diamond pattern on the deck, which allows the trucks to pivot 360° when maneuvering in tight spaces such as aisles in warehouses, supermarkets, retail stores, and stock rooms. The trucks also have low decks that reduce the distance heavy or bulky materials must be lifted when moving them onto or off of the trucks.
