Secondary flame-resistant clothing is worn over a baselayer of personal flame-resistant clothing (such as shirts and pants) when there is an intermittent or low risk of encountering fire. These garments are not a primary source of flame protection. Dry particulates are larger in size than aerosols and include dust and dirt. Garments that provide moderate-chemical splash and spray protect against a range of organic and inorganic acids and bases, solvents, and salts found in industrial cleaning applications. They have higher breakthrough times and protect against more chemicals than garments for light-chemical splash and spray. They are worn when working with liquids under pressure in industrial cleaning applications such as caustic clean down and decontamination.
