Starrett's GDG style solid carbide cut-off inserts are engineered for use with insert style shanks in various metalworking applications such as milling, drilling, reaming or tapping operations to quickly and accurately perform through cutting in soft to medium hard materials. This versatile 3.00mm x 25mm high insert can be used with insert shanks like Starrett PR1535-C and provide smooth finishes on a wide variety of materials including steel, aluminum or cast iron, making them popular amongst fabricators, machinists, tool & die makers among others who seek exceptional cutting performance from their tools.
The cutting teeth on drum rasps and files provide rough material removal from wood, plastics, and other soft materials. Also called rotary rasps and files, they cut grooves and prepare materials for sanding and smoothing. Their shank attaches to the rotary tool. Drum rasps have pointed teeth for more aggressive material removal than files. The wider spacing between the teeth makes them less likely to clog. Files have linear teeth that leave a smoother finish for controlled material removal and shaping.
