Light-duty AN (Army Navy)-style wiper rod seals have a low profile, making them a good choice for applications where radial and axial space are limited. AN-style hydraulic cylinder wiper seals (sometimes called 940 seals) fit MS 33675 grooves. They do not have a metal component, so they snap into place and don't require special tools to install.

Rod wiper seals keep hydraulic fluid clean by preventing contaminants, such as dirt, mud, and water, from entering the cylinder and damaging rod and buffer seals. Contaminated hydraulic fluid can damage machine surfaces and clog filters, shortening the lifespan of the hydraulic cylinder. These ring-shaped wiper seals (sometimes called wiper rings, excluders, scrapers, or dust seals) have a lip inside the cylinder that keeps the wiper in place. They are used in industrial tools, mobile hydraulics, and agricultural applications.
