Shock-absorbing polyurethane tread on iron core wheels have a web/spoke wheel structure that buckles to deflect shock forces and then returns to its original shape. These wheels offer excellent shock absorption without the need for a spring-loaded suspension. They are used in the automotive industry for high-speed towline applications. Wheels with iron cores provide good wear resistance and typically have higher load capacities than wheels with aluminum or plastic cores. Iron will rust if it gets wet, so these wheels are best suited for dry environments.

These wheels have polyurethane treads that provide more resistance to abrasion and chemicals than rubber treads. They also provide quiet rolling and will not mark floors, making them well suited for use in locations where noise must be minimized and an attractive floor appearance must be maintained. Polyurethane tread standard wheels are available in a range of hardnesses.
