Steam hose ground-joint coupling spuds have a hex bushing, making them easier to tighten with a wrench. They are commonly used to connect hoses in high-pressure applications, such as steam, air, water, chemical, and petroleum. Also known as boss couplings, they provide compatible threads for connecting two lengths of steam hose or for connecting a length of hose to equipment. These barbed hose fittings grip the inside of the hose to hold the fitting in place and are secured with an interlocking clamp to create a leak-resistant seal.
