Sewage Pumps: Your Secret Weapon Against Plumbing Disasters
Dealing with sewage backups is a nightmare no homeowner wants to face. If your house sits below the sewer line or has plumbing fixtures in the basement, a sewage pump might be your saving grace. But figuring out what kind of sewage pump you need can feel daunting.
Do You Need a Sewage Pump? Key Questions to Consider
Question: Is gravity on your side?
Consideration: Bathrooms, laundry rooms, or other plumbing fixtures below the main sewer line often scream "I need a sewage pump!"
Question: How far and uphill does your waste travel?
Consideration: Long distances or pushing sewage uphill require a pump with enough power to overcome those challenges. Think "horsepower" and "grinder pumps" for tough scenarios.
Question: What's going down the drain?
Consideration: Can your system handle basic toilet waste, or are tougher solids like hygiene products a regular issue? "Sewage ejector pumps" and "grinder pumps" have very different capabilities.
Question: Are clogs a frequent problem?
This could indicate issues with your sewage line where a pump might be a solution.
