Thread mill 1/8-27 carbide is a versatile, durable cutting tool perfect for manufacturing or maintenance tasks requiring high precision threading in stainless steel, high-alloy steel, titanium alloys and other hard materials. With three to four flutes and carbide construction for increased wear resistance and hardness, this thread mill delivers outstanding heat resistance during the cutting process for an excellent finish and precise threads that meet industry standards. The insert design enables easy replacement making it perfect for production lines where multiple threads need to be created quickly or in repair shops where a variety of machinery requires thread repair.
The TiAlN coating on these helical-flute thread mills withstands high temperatures and protects the thread mills from wear when milling hard materials. The TiAlN coating allows the thread mills to be used at faster speeds than thread mills with a bright finish. These thread mills are made from carbide, which offers excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness.Helical-flute thread mills have spiral flutes that distribute the chip load as the thread mill removes material to cut threads into an existing hole or onto the external surface of a part. They provide a smoother cut than straight-flute or single-profile thread mills and are used to create threads on tough or thin-walled materials. Helical-flute thread mills can create internal threads of the same pitch in a range of hole diameters, eliminating the need to change tools when threading multiple holes of different sizes. Thread mills are only usable in CNC machines that have helical interpolation capability.
