The thread mill M14x1.5 carbide is a versatile tool utilized primarily by machinists working within automotive, aerospace and medical industries for generating high precision threads on various materials including titanium alloys or aluminum in lightweight components requiring finer details. The carbide construction of the cutter allows cutting edges to remain sharp longer while withstanding wear during prolonged use enabling accuracy maintenance; this leads to a significant increase in efficiency compared to conventional tap & die methods. This M14 size endmill is able to generate accurate threads from start to finish without pre-tapping thus allowing thread pitch modification based on demand without need for retooling making it ideal for prototype works or high run volumes when accuracy demands precedence over lead times at production scale where cost per part might become more critical.

The TiAlN coating on these helical-flute thread mills withstands high temperatures and protects the thread mills from wear when milling hard materials. The TiAlN coating allows the thread mills to be used at faster speeds than thread mills with a bright finish. These thread mills are made from carbide, which offers excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness.

Helical-flute thread mills have spiral flutes that distribute the chip load as the thread mill removes material to cut threads into an existing hole or onto the external surface of a part. They provide a smoother cut than straight-flute or single-profile thread mills and are used to create threads on tough or thin-walled materials. Helical-flute thread mills can create internal threads of the same pitch in a range of hole diameters, eliminating the need to change tools when threading multiple holes of different sizes. Thread mills are only usable in CNC machines that have helical interpolation capability.
