Grade A (Inspection Grade) granite straight edges have a long and narrow face with a flat finish. These grade A straight edges have a medium-level tolerance and are accurate to 0.000050 inches per 6 inches overall length. They are durable, corrosion-resistant, and tolerate temperature fluctuations. Grade A straight edges are commonly used for on-the-floor applications such as layout and alignment during setup on a CNC or CMM machine. Inspection granite tri-squares have three sides and are used to check the X, Y, Z axes on CNC machine tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). When used in a horizontal position, they can check the X and Y axes for 90° squareness. When used in a vertical position, they can be traced along the edge to check the perpendicularity of the Z axis. They are also used for checking general squareness and straightness.
