These high-speed steel chucking reamers come in standard letter sizes. The trade letter size for each reamer indicates its compatibility with other tools that have the same trade letter size. Right-hand spiral-flute reamers pull chips out of a hole as they enlarge it to an exact size for a precise fit when installing fasteners or other parts. This prevents damage to the reamer and the workpiece. They are used for reaming blind holes and are suitable for applications with interrupted cuts, such as keyways.
